Summary of 3 Expert Reviews:
The D Rose 8 is an amazing overall performer. It absolutely nails the two most important features of any basketball shoe: traction and support. The new "zipper" traction pattern provides beastly traction, even on dusty courts. Full-length Boost cushioning is perfectly balanced and provides a lot of impact protection while still being very responsive. The materials are rather basic and may look a little cheap, but they absolutely get the job done. If you are looking for a supportive high top with amazing traction and support then this is the shoe for you.

Expert Reviews of the Adidas D Rose 8:

The Sole Brothers
The performance of the D Rose 8 is stellar. Feels like a lighter, streamlined and more minimal D Rose 7. I love these shoes and put them on the top of my list of Adidas performance sneakers.

For $140 this is a really good shoe. It brings everything you want: impact protection, responsiveness, ventilation, support and really good traction. If you like supportive high-tops, then this is the perfect shoe for you!

Traction of the Adidas D Rose 8

The Sole Brothers
The new "zipper" traction is really nice. The stopping power is amazing.

The Rose 8 still stops on a dime and holds the floor like a grudge (word, Rakim). Dust was barely an issue because the pattern is wide and pushes any debris out and off the sole to keep you ripping.
9.5
Traction was really, really good. Very squeaky and very hard bite. I haven't slipped yet, and I have played on dusty courts.

The full-length Boost setup provides an amazing balance between responsiveness, impact protection, court feel and heel-to-toe transition. You can't go wrong with this cushioning!

Full-length Boost is thick and plush with serious impact protection.
The Boost setup is very bouncy in the heel and a little less pronounced in the front. If feels amazing while still providing responsiveness and court feel.

Material of the Adidas D Rose 8

Mesh upper with TPU overlay get the job done but they are not exactly premium.

A very basic foam-backed mesh upper. It's a little stiff in the beginning but needs a little break in time.

Mesh and fuse would feel right at home in 2012 but they feel great!

Support of the Adidas D Rose 8

9
The Sole Brothers
The materials don't stretch, ankle support is really good and lockdown is solid.

The upper is supportive with no stretch, so containment on hard cuts is strapped and locked. The ankle is locked in with the high cut and padding.
I had no side-to-side movement or heel slippage. Support features are almost too much for me.

Let that mesh soften up with some run-time heat and then pull the laces tight and BAM! No sliding.

Overall a great fitting shoe even for me as a wide-footer.
